Mark Provincial Grand Stewards Lodge Installation Meeting
In September 2021 the Installation meeting of the Mark Provincial Grand Stewards Lodge of Surrey No 1726 was held at the Croydon Masonic Hall.
After opening the Lodge, the Worshipful Master, W.Bro. Terry Carpenter, P.G.J.D, had much pleasure in welcoming the Provincial Grand Master, RW.Bro. Ian Clark, and offered him the gavel. The Provincial Grand Master thanked the Worshipful Master for the courtesy and returned it to him as he would be doing some work later on. The RW. Provincial Grand Master was then saluted with seven under the direction of the Director of Ceremonies, W.Bro. David Thompson.
The Worshipful Master welcomed our many guests and visitors, which included the Past Provincial Grand Master of the Mark Province of Kent, RW.Bro. Archie Torrance, members of the Provincial Executive present and past, and a number of guests from other Provinces.
A ballot was taken for a number of joining members. This proved in their favour and they were escorted to the Worshipful Master to be welcomed into the Lodge and presented with a copy of the By-Laws.
The Lodge Banner was paraded, and the Junior Warden explained the history of the Banner. The Brethren stood in memory of W.Bro. John Finlayson, P.G.S.D., who had passed to the Grand Lodge Above in March 2021.
The RW Provincial Grand Master was then invited to install the Master Elect, W.Bro. Richard Knox, P.G.S.D. This was done in a very sincere and enjoyable manner.
Worshipful Master with the 150th Anniversary Keystone Jewel and the Officers of the Lodge were appointed.
The Address to the Master was given by VW.Bro. Chris Eley, to the Wardens by W.Bro. Tim Ford, to the Overseers by VW.Bro. Chris Cradock and to the Brethren by RW.Bro. Ian Clark.
After the Charity Steward, W.Bro. Mick Clay, had given his report the Worshipful Master had much pleasure in presenting the RW Provincial Grand Master with a donation of £400 towards the Mark 2022 MBF Festival. The Provincial Grand Master thanked the Worshipful Master and the Brethren of the Lodge for their generous donation, which will mean the Lodge will receive MBF Grand Patron award.
The Worshipful Master then gave an interesting talk entitled, “The Ancient Office of Warden”, which was well received.
After the Lodge was closed the Worshipful Master accompanying the RW Provincial Grand Master retired in procession under the direction of the Director of Ceremonies.
After the customary photos the Brethren retired to the bar. Here we have our new Worshipful Master with two members of the Lodge.
After the Lodge was closed, we all retired to the bar for drinks following which we all dined together in the Elizabethan Suite.
After the meal we all played a game of Heads and Tails to win a lovely cake baked by our Master Baker, VW.Bro. Jerry Gangadeen to raise funds for the Surrey Mark 2022 MBF Festival.
This was won by W.Bro. Tony Callister.
It was a most enjoyable afternoon.
