The 2022 Festival Countdown Event

The 2022 Festival Countdown Event was held at Nutfield on Monday 15th July 2019 following the Installation meeting of Fratres Calami Aerariique Mark Lodge. It certainly didn’t seem like just over 3 years ago we were meeting here to launch the 2022 Festival. Once again the main dining room hosted over 70 Mark Masons from Surrey all coming together to support the event.

As well as a buffet meal and presentation the event was marked by the dedication and handover of a St John Ambulance Support Vehicle. It was a lovely sunny day so many of us gathered on the patio to await the arrival of the Support Vehicle.

The members of the Provincial Executive were there in their Chains of Office, as well as Andrew Latham and Graham Rapley from St John Ambulance with many of their colleagues. Also present was W.Bro. Darren Coleman-Heald, Charities Manager for the Mark Benevolent Fund.

After a few words from our Provincial Grand Master and Andrew Rapley, the Chair of the Surrey County Priory Group St John, the vehicle was dedicated by the Rev’d Cannon Nigel Nicholson and officially handed over to St John Ambulance.

Our Provincial Grand Master, RW.Bro. Ian Clark, said “On behalf of the Trustees of the Mark Benevolent Fund and the Provincial Grand Lodge of Mark Master Masons of Surrey I am delighted to hand over this Support Vehicle to St John, which will assist in providing care to those in need in our community.

“I am also so pleased to see the Ambulance that we presented in 2000, which is still in regular use at events in the county”.

We all then had the opportunity to look over the vehicle. Here we have our Provincial Grand Master and Graham Rapley being shown over the Support Vehicle by a Paramedic.

During his presentation W.Bro. Darren was pleased to present our Provincial Grand Master with a Vice Patron award for the Provincial Grand Lodge of Mark Master Masons of Surrey.

W.Bro. Steve Jones, our Provincial Grand Charity Steward, then gave one of his enlightening presentations on what we have achieved so far and what was planned for the future. Future events include a Summer BBQ at Nutfield, the Cha Di Da at the Reigate Manor Hotel, a Clay Pigeon Shoot in October, and in 2020, Kevin Woodward’s walk up Mount Killimanjaro, another Swimathon at Guildford Spectum, the Festival Cruise, and Nigel Feltham’s Nijmegen Walk.

In conclusion, our Provincial Grand Master thanked everyone for attending and thanked all the Lodges that have made contributions to the 2022 Festival already. He said we have a challenge ahead, for all Lodges to be at Grand Patron Gold level by the end of the Festival.
