Mark Master Masons of Surrey
A very enjoyable day for Ditton Lodge

In April 2018, Ditton Lodge of Royal Ark Mariners No. 1857 and Ditton Lodge of Mark Master Masons No. 1857 were honoured by a visit from W.Bro. Chris Eley, Assistant Provincial Grand Master, and a good number of Provincial Grand Officers of the year. What was to make this a very interesting day was that the Provincial Grand Master was in the Chair of the Mark Lodge to install Bro. George Turner as Worshipful Master.

The afternoon started off with a Royal Ark Mariners meeting where the Worshipful Commander, W.Bro. George Turner, welcomed the Assistant Provincial Grand Master and the Provincial Officers. W.Bro. Harry Smith was declared the Worshipful Commander for the ensuring year, W.Bro. Graham Hancock was declared as Treasurer, and the Lodge was closed.

A Lodge of Mark Master Masons was then opened. The Provincial Grand Senior Deacon, W.Bro. Paul Wicking, was admitted and advised the Acting Worshipful Master, RW.Bro. Ian Clark, that his Assistant Provincial Grand Master was in the ante room and he demanded admission to the Lodge. The Assistant Provincial Grand Master entered in procession with the Provincial team and took his place in the East while the Secretary read a eulogy for W.Bro. Brian Owen, PAGIG, PProvGMO, who had passed to the Grand Lodge above in December 2017. Many Brethren from the Mark Province of Surrey as well as Brethren from the Craft and other Orders were present at his funeral.

The Assistant Provincial Grand Master was then presented with the gavel and took the Chair. He said how pleased he was to be visiting Ditton Lodge again, especially as the Provincial Grand Master was in the Chair. The Assistant Provincial Grand Master, spoke about the various ongoing initiatives, then introduced the Provincial team, took the minutes and vacated the Chair.

Next on the agenda was the installation of Bro. George Turner as Worshipful Master by RW.Bro. Ian Clark. W.Bro. Chris Eley gave the Addresses to the Master and the Brethren.
