The Provincial Grand Master visits Woodgrange Lodge
With a little more help from their friends

Following my Official Visit to Coulsdon Lodge in October I was invited back to present a RAM Grand Lodge and a Mark Grand Lodge Certificate. Unfortunately Bro. Ian Thomas, the candidate Elevated at the last meeting, was unable to attend due to an accident. We all wish him a speedy recovery. Present once more were a number of members of the Provincial Support Team, who were invited to assist in both the RAM and Mark meetings.

The afternoon started off with a Royal Ark Mariners meeting where W.Bro. Mike Neville, RAMGR, acted as Worshipful Commander to conduct the ceremony of Elevation. Bro. Bruce Phillips was Elevated to the Ancient and Honourable Degree of Royal Ark Mariner in Mike’s very special way, assisted by members of the Provincial Support Team.

The offices undertaken by the Support Team members were: Worshipful Commander, W.Bro. Mike Neville; Junior Warden, W.Bro. Gary Raggett; Senior Deacon, W.Bro. Steve Cann; Junior Deacon, W.Bro. Steve Guzy; ADC, W.Bro. Chris George; and Guardian, W.Bro. Roger Chapman. Fortunately there were enough members present so I was not asked to do an office this time. Once again It was a splendid ceremony which demonstrated the value of the Support Team to both the Province of Surrey and the Lodges that call on their assistance.

A Lodge of Mark Master Masons was then opened and VW.Bro. Arnold Long, PGJO, gave a eulogy in memory of W.Bro. Norman Douglas, PGJD, PProvGSW, who passed to the Grand Lodge Above on the 6th December 2017.

The offices undertaken by the Support Team members in the Mark Degree were: Senior Warden, W.Bro. Gary Raggett; Junior Warden, W.Bro. Steve Guzy; Senior Overseer, W.Bro. Steve Cann; Junior Overseer, W.Bro. Roger Chapman and Senior Deacon, W.Bro. Chris George.

I was then asked to present a Mark Grand Lodge Certificate to Bro. Bruce Phillips who had been Elevated earlier that afternoon. It is pleasing to see Coulsdon Lodge slowly growing in numbers.

W.Bro. Steve Guzy gave an update on the Bonus Ball and presented the Lodge with a ‘M’ box to circulate at the Festive Board.. After the meeting was closed the Brethren of Coulsdon Lodge and their guests sat down to a most enjoyable festive board at the Croydon Masonic Centre.

Coulsdon Lodge is a member of the Wheeler Group meeting at Croydon and an open invitation is always there for other Brethren go along and enjoy their Mark Masonry with them.
