Executive Visit to Curfew Lodge

In February, W.Bro. Chris Eley, Assistant Provincial Grand Master, made an Official Visit to Curfew Lodge of Royal Ark Mariners and Curfew Lodge of Mark Master Masons No. 1411.

The afternoon started off with a Royal Ark Mariners meeting where the Worshipful Commander, W.Bro. Peter King, welcomed the Assistant Provincial Grand Master. W.Bro. Leslie Grout, ProvRAMGR, was declared Worshipful Commander for the ensuing year and W.Bro. Mike Prentice as Treasurer.

A Lodge of Mark Master Masons was then opened. The Provincial Assistant Grand Director of Ceremonies, W.Bro. Mark Donovan, was admitted and advised the Acting Worshipful Master, W.Bro. Leslie Grout, PProvGMO, that the Worshipful Assistant Provincial Grand Master was in the ante room and demanded admission to his Lodge.

The Assistant Provincial Grand Master entered in procession, was presented with the gavel and took the Chair. He said how pleased he was to be visiting Curfew Lodge for the first time and how much he was looking forward to the afternoon’s proceedings with a candidate for Advancement. He spoke about the 2022 Festival, especially the events that have been planned, introduced the Provincial Team, took the minutes and vacated the Chair.

The next item on the agenda was to Advance Bro. Michael Myatt of St Peter’s Lodge No 7406. Bro. Michael was Advanced to the Honourable Degree of Mark Master Masons in an excellent manner by W.Bro. Leslie Grout, ably assisted by W.Bro. Mike Prentice who acted as Senior Deacon, and a number of their guests. W.Bro. Mark Donovan acted as Tyler for the ceremony.

Bro. Michael was welcomed into the Mark Province of Surrey by the Assistant Provincial Grand Master and given a copy of the Overseer.

W.Bro. David Reid was declared as Worshipful Master for the ensuing year and W.Bro. Leslie invested those Officers present on behalf of the Worshipful Master.

After the meeting was closed the Brethren of Curfew Lodge and their guests sat down to a most enjoyable festive board at the Chertsey Masonic Centre.
