The Provincial Grand Master visits Woodgrange Lodge
Solomon Athanasius James (Jolliboy) Pratt

Solomon Athanasius James (Jolliboy) PrattSolomon Pratt passed to the Grand Lodge Above on the 28th December 2017 aged 96 years. Solomon, who was the oldest subscribing member in the Mark Province of Surrey, was a member of the Croydon Lodge of Mark Master Masons and the Croydon Lodge of Royal Ark Mariners No. 198 and, along with his good friend Oluwole Richards, was key to the survival of Croydon Lodge in 2014 when it was on the point of handing back its Warrant.

Solomon was born in The Gambia and spent his early years alternating between The Gambia and Sierra Leone. He was initiated into the Loyal Lodge No 3719, English Constitution, in 1944. He was an active member in many Lodges and Chapters in the English, Scottish and Irish Contitutions as well as under the Grande Loge Nationale Française in France. In the Mark he held the Grand Rank of PGSwdB (SC) and was PProvGSW in the Mark Province of Surrey.

Members of the Mark Provincial Executive and brethren from his various Lodges attended a Service of Thanksgiving and Holy Communion held at the St Mark’s Church in Mitcham, Surrey, attended by over 400 mourners. Solomon’s funeral service was held in Freetown, Sierra Leone, where he was granted a State Funeral in honour of his excellent service to Sierra Leone as a distinguished Statesman.
