A Lodge of Mark Master Masons was opened. The Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies, W.Bro. Richard Knox, was admitted and advised the Worshipful Master, W.Bro. Syd Furlonger, that the RW Provincial Grand Master was in the ante room and demanded admission to the Lodge. The RW Provincial Grand Master entered in procession with the Provincial team, was presented with the gavel and took the Chair. The RW Provincial Grand Master introduced the Provincial team and spoke about the 2022 Festival. He congratulated the Lodge on being the second Mark Lodge in Surrey to receive a MBF Grand Patron Gold award. He then presented the Worshipful Master with the collaret and thanked the members of Richmond lodge for their generosity.

After the Provincial Grand Master had vacated the Chair the Worshipful Master invited W.Bro. John Fitzgerald to conduct the Ceremony of Installation. W.Bro. John invited W.Bro. John French, Assistant Provincial Grand Master, to occupy the Senior Warden’s Chair, VW.Bro. Jerry Gangadeen, Assistant Provincial Grand Master (London), to occupy the Junior Warden’s Chair, and W.Bro. Bill Barr, Grand Inner Guard, to act as Inner Guard.

Bro. Gordon Hamilton was installed into the Chair of the Richmond Lodge of Mark Master Masons in an excellent manner by W.Bro. John Fitzgerald. The Working Tools were presented by VW.Bro. Jerry Gangadeen. The Address to the Master was given by W.Bro. Chris Eley, to the Wardens by VW.Bro. Jerry Gangadeen, to the Overseers by W.Bro. Tim Ford and to the Brethren by RW.Bro. Ian Clark.

To round off a busy afternoon RW.Bro. Ian Clark was then invited to present Mark Grand Lodge Certificates to Bros. Bill Jowett and Tony Mullard. After the customary photographs the Brethren of Richmond Lodge and their guests sat down to a most enjoyable festive board in the Elizabethan Suite at the Surbiton Masonic Hall.

After the meal the Brethren of Richmond Lodge and their guests were treated to a delicious slice of cake with their coffee baked by VW.Bro Jerry Gangadeen. The Brethren played Heads & Tails to win one of Jerry’s cakes. This was won by Jerry’s guest W.Bro. Ray Johnson who promptly gave it to the RW Provincial Grand Master. RW.Bro. Ian said that he would take it along to Crystal Palace Mark Lodge meeting on the 30th October where Crystal Palace Mark Lodge and the Mark Province of Surrey will be celebrating their 125th Anniversary.

Richmond Lodge is a member of the Austin Group meeting at Surbiton and an open invitation is always there for other Brethren come along and enjoy their Mark Masonry with us.
