The afternoon started off with a Royal Ark Mariners meeting where, as their Worshipful Commander was not able to be present, W.Bro. Steven Cann opened the Lodge and welcomed the Assistant Provincial Grand Master and the Provincial Officers. Then followed a short RAM meeting where the Scribe of the Lodge, W.Bro. Derek Harrington, gave a short talk entitled ‘A Mariners Obligation Fulfilled’.

A Lodge of Mark Master Masons was then opened. The Provincial Assistant Grand Director of Ceremonies, W.Bro. John Ward, was admitted and advised the Acting Worshipful Master, W.Bro. Steven Cann, that the Worshipful Assistant Provincial Grand Master was in the ante room and demanded admission to his Lodge.

The Assistant Provincial Grand Master entered in procession with the Provincial team, was presented with the gavel and took the Chair. He said how pleased he was to be making his first official visit to Hiram Lodge and how much he was looking forward to the afternoon’s proceedings. The Assistant Provincial Grand Master introduced the Provincial Team, took the minutes and vacated the Chair. W.Bro. Jack Love was then obligated and inducted as Worshipful Master in an excellent manner by W.Bro. Steven Cann.

The Charity Steward gave Notice of Motion that the Lodge donate the sum of £500 towards the Surrey 2022 Festival in aid of the Mark Benevolent Fund.

The Worshipful Master of Noel Mark Lodge, W.Bro. Edward Henson, announced that he was there to claim the Travelling Keystone. Four other Brethren of Noel Mark Lodge also stood up. Members of Welcome Mark Lodge were also there, including our Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies, W.Bro. Richard Knox, who kindly acted as Director of Ceremonies for the Lodge. It was a close call but in the end Noel Mark Lodge were able to claim the Keystone.

This was presented at the Festive Board to W.Bro. Edward Henson by the Worshipful Master of Hiram Lodge, W.Bro. Jack Love. The M box was circulated by the Lodge’s Group Charity Steward, W.Bro. Richard Collinson, in aid of the 2022 Festival.

As there is no meeting of Noel Lodge before the Annual Meeting in March they will formally hand over the Keystone to the Provincial Grand Master at the meeting. At a later part of the proceedings it will be presented to the Mark Lodge with the most members attending the Festive Board. It then starts its travels round the Province for another year
